Getting into Shape from The Ground Up

How to go from a sedentary lifestyle and eating poorly to consistently exercising and eating a nutritious diet

Physical fitness is an uncommon trait across individuals. According to the World Health Organization:

The very last bullet point is something I would like to address. Preventing obesity amounts to two fundamental principles: exercising and eating a well-balanced diet that mostly consists of nutritious/unprocessed foods. This sounds simple, but for most people, it is not.

Physical fitness is not the norm. It is so not the norm that we live in an era where Adele is fit-shamed, and fit-shaming is a typical social convention.

Complexity in what is truly simple derives from a profound unfamiliarity with what is simple. The baseline for most people is a diet that consists of processed foods that yield little to no nutritional value and a sedentary lifestyle.

Getting out of this baseline is the greatest challenge for most. Once you have broken out of it, getting into shape becomes a lot easier. The fundamental issue with this baseline…
